hands up…

Just got home from a fun night at Eddie’s Attic in sweet ol’ Decatur (‘decatur where it’s greater’… according to those who call it home).  Paired up with my music-lover friend Kris to take in some ‘obscure and undiscovered’ musicians who rock in fine form.  I’ve said for quite some time that heaven to me would be all-day, all-night live music and cold beer on call… it was confirmed tonight.  Todd Carey, Curtis Peoples, Keaton Simons took the stage seperately in the fashion of rockstars.  Their lyrics are truly brilliant, more brilliant is their love and passion for what they do.

I found myself the whole time thinking ‘I wish I had my camera,’ which will become a standard in all posts you will find.  Also, found myself watching their hands the whole time.  My mom mentioned a photograph she loved a while back of three generations of hands… baby, mom and grandma.  It stuck with me and I find when I load my CF cards onto the computer I always see a few of hands or feet.  The story in hands is always personal and/or public.  Much like the interpretation of photographs (‘she’s happy’, ‘she’s sad’, ‘she’s in love’), the interpretation of hands can be quite varied.  These men throw their fingers across those chords in ways undeniably shocking to me.  We sit and listen and expect the music and forget it is those hands moving 1000 miles per second in 1000 patterns that make it oh-so-sweet to our ears.  Crazy really (much like the USPS system, more on that later though)!  The story on their hands, from nothing to something, is probably pretty awesome.

Same with a child’s hands that have no sign of age to them and same with my grandma’s hands that have that discoloration and noticable years.  I’ve worked in the cosmetic surgery industry and know that you change your face but your hands still have the story of time.  And what a wonderful story there is…

Another reason it’s great being behind a lens.  It’s just another way to look at a life.  Pictured above is the new hand of one of my best friends babes… she knows the real story… or does she…:)

Love shout to my ma and pa and my good friend JLo for their comments on previous post.  Your interest/opinion means the world to me.

Always in touch.
